Why are you involved in LWML?

Have you ever heard of an elevator speech? It is a speech that is short, about 30-60 seconds, one that you can present in the time it takes to ride several floors on an elevator. You need to know your subject well to make a point in such a short period of time.   

I ask you all to think about your response when someone asks you why you are involved in Lutheran Women in Mission. Take time to answer the questions below.

  • Why am I involved in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League?
  • What is the most exciting part of being a Lutheran Woman in Mission? 
  • Who introduced me to the LWML? How did I become involved? 
  • Who could I introduce to LWML?
  • How can I encourage someone to participate with me? 
  • What specific new idea can I share that will make a difference in my local group, zone, or district?

Review your answers. It will help you understand why you are passionate about serving our Lord through LWML. Take time to put your thoughts into a paragraph; say it out loud. Then, when you are asked about what you do and why, you are prepared to share your new elevator speech.

Remember our LWML Mission Statement is:

“As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others.” 

Sharing this message should be easy.
