How to Form a New LWML Group

Are you looking for a way to grow in faith, serve others, and support missions alongside other women in your congregation? If your church does not currently have an active Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) group, or if you’re seeking a new group with a different focus or meeting schedule, now is a great time to start one! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

The first step in forming an LWML group is to connect with other women in your congregation who share a passion for faith, service, and mission work. Together, you can discuss your vision for the group and determine the best way to begin.

• Start with a Bible Study – This is a wonderful way to lay a strong spiritual foundation for your group.
• Choose a Service Project – Serving together strengthens bonds and makes an immediate impact in your church and community.
• Use the Lutheran Women’s Quarterly – The LWML’s signature publication includes devotional content, mission updates, and service ideas. While certain articles are available for free online, a full subscription provides the most enriching experience.
• Explore Program Helps – The national LWML website offers excellent resources to guide your new group’s activities.

Once your group is ready, you can officially register with LWML to gain access to additional resources and support. Here’s how:

1. Visit the LWML CNH Website Resources Page to locate the official application form. You’ll find it under “Membership Records”.
2. Print and complete the form.
3. Mail the form to the LWML CNH President at the address provided.

After your application is processed, your new LWML group will receive:

• A Welcome Letter introducing you to LWML.
• An LWML Handbook with guidance on running your group.
