We see the phrase “God bless America” on garden flags, hear it at ball games, and often hear it included in public speeches. It is a familiar expression, but it is also more than a slogan. It is a prayer—a request for God’s blessing. As we reflect on the many blessings we enjoy as a nation, it is worth pausing, not only to ask for God’s continued care, but also to thank Him for the gifts we have already received. Gratitude helps turn a familiar phrase into a sincere prayer of thanksgiving.

This July is America’s 250th anniversary! As we gather to celebrate with families, friends, and sisters in Christ this month, let us remember that our freedoms are a blessing we should be thankful for not just on the Fourth of July, but every day of our lives. Let’s remember that our God is generous to all of us who live here and it is our responsibility to share His love and forgiveness with everyone we meet.

What are some of the things you are grateful for? What are some little things that you hadn’t thought about, but are blessings from our heavenly Father? Take a little time today to sit and think about all that God has blessed you with. Write a blessing list and post it in your office or kitchen. Read it and marvel over all that God does for you! You are so blessed. Most importantly, as Christians, we thank God for His blessings of forgiveness and eternal life with our Savior, Jesus Christ. Share your blessings with others, so they can be thankful, too.

Please, whenever you hear “God Bless America” remember to say THANK YOU!

This recently funded grant is bringing Christ’s hope to those experiencing homelessness through Mercy Holistic Ministries in the Sacramento area. The $2,500 grant will help Mercy Holistic Ministries expand the services they already provide, including showers and hygiene products, by offering fresh meals, packed snacks, bottled water, Bibles, devotionals, and other spiritual materials.

On May 30, 2026, nine ladies from Trinity Lutheran Church in San Rafael gathered for a time of fellowship, encouragement, and planning for the work of their Society. Together, they shared ideas and decided to prepare Blessing Bags for shut-ins as a meaningful way to offer care and support.

Their next meeting will be held on August 29. At that time, the ladies plan to bring purchased items and assemble the bags while continuing to enjoy singing, laughter, love, and encouragement with one another.

Join us and be renewed in faith, strengthened through fellowship, and encouraged by God’s Word, all in the beauty of Hawaii.

On May 9, the ladies of the LWML gathered to create flower baskets for Mother’s Day. Laura Lynn Ledson organized the project, and the women of the LWML, along with other volunteers, worked together to prepare the arrangements.

An assembly line was set up with stations for each step in the process. The baskets were assembled by adding floral foam, arranging greenery, placing a ring of medium blooms, and finishing each basket with a larger bloom at the back. Carol Stillson made lovely bows which were attached to each basket. A pick and a greeting card were added last to complete the arrangement.

In total, the group created 101 baskets, which were distributed on Mother’s Day morning. The ladies who received them at the end of the service were delighted. We are grateful to Sequoia Floral International, a floral supply wholesaler located in Sonoma County, for donating all the floral supplies.

On Saturday, June 6, the ladies of St. Mark’s LWML carpooled to San Anselmo in Marin County and celebrated the start of their summer break with a memorable luncheon at Insalata’s. The gathering marked a joyful close to a year of LWML monthly meetings.

Cynthia Roderick, part-owner of Insalata’s, arranged a delightful luncheon for the group, and it was truly a class act. The food was outstanding, beginning with delicious appetizers and followed by a choice of three entrees. The meal ended beautifully with a little dish of panna cotta or decadent chocolate mousse.

Each guest also received a pretty gift bag filled with tasty cookies edged in crunchy chocolate. The wait staff were professional, friendly, attentive, and gracious throughout the afternoon. They took excellent care of everyone.

“Creator of all good things, thank You for the gift of this day, for friendship, laughter, and the abundance before us. May our time together be filled with kindness, joy, and gratitude. Amen.”
